Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau Welcomes Accenture Match Play

Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau (MTCVB) is looking forward to working with PGA Tour Officials to
support and promote the 2007 Accenture Match Play golf event. PGA Tour officials and Tucson sponsors and hosts have worked
for more than a year to solidify plans to move the event to Tucson's Gallery at Dove Mountain from La Costa Resort and
Spa in Carlsbad, California. The match will be will be broadcast in more than 140 countries. In the United States it
will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC. The World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Event is one of four World Golf
Championships events which debuted in 1999. It is sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA
Tours. Eligibility for the Accenture Match Play Championship is limited to the top 64 available players from the
Official World Golf Ranking. The format for the event is single-elimination match play. Players are seeded 1 through
64 based on their Official World Golf Ranking with the No. 1 seed playing the No. 64 seed, the No. 2 seed playing the
No. 63 seed, etc. (player seedings combined add up to 65). Past champions include Jeff Maggert, Darren Clarke, Steve
Stricker, Kevin Sutherland, Tiger Woods, and David Toms.
